Coffey turned in a fourth-place finish at Saturday's Mid-American Conference Championships. His time of 24:38.8 ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃÆ'¢'¬" just two seconds off his personal best ÃÆ'Æ'¢ÃÆ'¢'¬" helped him finish as the top RedHawk on a men's team that secured second place for the second consecutive year. Just one place from medaling, Coffey was named First-Team All-MAC.
This is the first time this season and in his career that Coffey has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week.
Portugal scored two goals and two assists in a 7-1 victory against Ball State on Sunday. She was strong on the ball and made plays on both ends of the field to help the RedHawks control the game early. Portugal finishes the regular season tied with her career high 40 points and a new career high eight assists. She currently ranks fourth in Miami field hockey history in goals and points.
This is the third time this season and fifth time in her career that Portugal has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week. It is the second consecutive week she has earned this honor.
The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Monday, Nov. 6.
