Miami Swimming and Diving Dueling Decades

OXFORD, Ohio - As Miami Athletics continues to make the support of Miami Swimming & Diving a priority with an ultimate goal of fully endowing the program, we are looking for new ways to connect our passionate alumni and drive support for the program. To that end, we are excited to announce a little friendly competition! With a history spanning six decades, we would like to challenge each decade to financially support the young men and women that wear the Red & White today and for years to come.
How to Get Involved:
Go to http://www.givetomiamioh.org/SwimmingDivingExcellenceFund to make a gift in support of Miami Swimming & Diving. You may designate your gift to ANY swimming & diving fund, from scholarship support to budget enhancements, any area that is most meaningful to you. Multiyear pledges are encouraged; if this is something you are interested in please contact Brad Okel at 513-529-1798 or brad.okel@miamioh.edu.
How It Works:
The total number of dollars raised by the members of a given decade will be given a point total that will then be added to a value assigned based on the participation percentage of the active alumni within that group. The decade with the most points accumulated by the start of the Men's MAC Championship's on March 1, 2018 will be declared the winner. The winning decade will be recognized at the MAC Championship and receive a Miami Swimming Gear Package. Look for regular updates in The RedHawk Reel.

Example:
John Doe '87, Sally Swimmer '88 and Jane Diver '89, all members of the '80's decade, gave a total of $500,000 to swimming & diving initiatives. That would accrue a point total of 20.
In addition, these three make up 33% of their decade thus accumulating a participation value of 10.
20 + 10 = 30
In total, the '80's would then have 30 points in the competition.
What is at stake:
1) Bragging Rights - Winning decade will be recognized at the Men's MAC Championship in March.
2) Miami Swimming Gear Package
3) Ensuring Miami Swimming is positioned for success for decades to come
