JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Half of the Miami track and field program's postseason contingent was in action as the squad wrapped up its stay at the NCAA East Region Preliminary Meet on Saturday.
Over in the shot put, Arionna Darling posted Miami's top finish of the day when her third and final throw landed 51-1 1/2 from the throwing circle. That was good for 19th in the competition and MU's best placing for the entire weekend. Ashley Frahm joined Darling in the event and she launched her final throw 47-0 3/4 to take 43rd.
In the high jump pit, Peter Stefanski competed in his final meet with Miami. The senior cleared the opening height of 6-8 on his first try to finish tied for 32nd.
For the second time this weekend, Joe Stewart took his long distance acumen to the track, this time in the 5000m. The senior finished his final collegiate race in 14:44.26, placing 34th. He ends his career as a two-time NCAA Cross Country Championship qualifier, a two-time NCAA East Region Preliminary meet qualifier, a three-time First-Team All-Mid-American Conference performer and a 2015 MAC 10,000m champion.
This weekend concludes the collegiate schedule for Miami in its first season as a combined program.
