Trio Turn in Top Times at Stanford Twilight

STANFORD, Cal. - Miami's top distance runners took to the track at Stanford University for the second time this season to turn in some of their best performances on Friday night.
Joe Stewart took on the 5000m for the Red and White, posting a time of 14:04.40 for eighth place overall. Stewart's performance puts him in second place on the Mid-American Conference list and clinches a bid to the conference meet. Nationally, the senior from Napierville, Ill., ranks 68th across all of NCAA Division I and 36th in the East region. This also moves Stewart to eighth on the Miami top-10 list.
The 1500m featured Miami's Andrew Dusing and Laura Bess. Dusing turned in a time of 3:46.08 for 16th overall in a field packed with talented collegiate and post-collegiate athletes. This moves Dusing to second place in the MAC rankings and 41st in the NCAA East region. Additionally, Dusing climbs a spot in the Miami top-10 rankings to seventh all-time. Bess clocked in at 4:27.17 for 21st overall moving her to fourth in the conference this year. This moves her to 79th in the east region for her senior season.
Action will resume at the Virginia Challenge and the Jesse Owens Classic at 10 a.m.
