Weathers continued his strong play for the RedHawks, averaging 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists in two games this week. He was fantastic in an overtime win over Grambling on Wednesday, finishing with 26 points on 8-for-14 shooting. He also had six rebounds, eight assists, four blocks and a steal in 39 minutes of action. He followed it up with 12 points, five assists and two steals at Fort Wayne on Saturday. Weathers is averaging 21.6 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game during his rookie campaign.
This is the first time this season and in his career that Weathers has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week.
On day one of the Miami Invitational, Moynihan set a meet record twice. She took first in the 500-yard freestyle prelims, clocking in at 4:49.85. This broke the old meet record, set in 2010 by Vanessa Balogh from Oakland (4:50.30). Later in the day, Moynihan broke the record again, and won the event in 4:49.11. She also helped Miami's 200-yard freestyle relay place fourth (1:32.85) and finished 14th in the 50-yard freestyle (23.91). Moynihan used day two to win the 200-yard freestyle. She clocked in at 1:47.98. She also was a part of the second-place 800-yard freestyle relay team (7:25.79) on Friday. The final day of the Miami Invite etched Moynihan's name in RedHawk history. She won the 1650-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 16:35.45, but her 1000-yard freestyle time was 9:59.40, breaking the school record. It was previously set by Amy Miranda in 2003 (10:01.23). Moynihan also used Saturday to take 8th place in the 100-yard freestyle (51.48) and 3rd in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:24.67).
This is the first time this season and in her career that Moynihan has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week.
