Gus Ragland, a member of the Miami University football team, has been named Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday, November 28.
The sophomore quarterback completed 26-of-35 passes for 380 yards (career high) and three touchdowns in Miami's 21-20 come-from-behind win over Ball State. The victory made Miami bowl eligible and helped the Red and White make NCAA history. The win moved the RedHawks to 6-6 overall after opening the season with six straight losses. No team in the history of college football had ever finished a season 6-6 after beginning the year 0-6.
This is Ragland's second MAC honor in less than a month. He earned the same conference award back on Nov. 7 after throwing for 218 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Central Michigan.
Ragland has completed 93-of-149 passes for 1,274 yards and 15 touchdowns, while throwing no interceptions since being named starter on Oct. 15 in a contest versus Kent State.
Ragland and the RedHawks will be playing in the post season for the first time since 2010. Bowl announcements are expected to come on Sunday, Dec. 4.
