Oct. 19, 2016 OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University strength and conditioning staff has a new assistant coach as Director of Strength and Conditioning Paul Harker has added Zach Higgins to the department.
Higgins, a Michigan State graduate, will work with the Miami baseball, synchronized skating, swimming and diving and track and field programs while assisting with football.
"We are very excited to bring Zach on board here at Miami," Harker said. "As a former collegiate athlete at the highest level, Zach brings a sense of toughness, hard work and passion that will immediately benefit our student-athletes."
Higgins comes to Oxford from University Park, Maryland, where he served as an administrative coach for the University of Maryland. He helped implement the Terrapins' football strength and conditioning program while tracking performance analytics with the performance coordinator. He also monitored modified workouts of student-athletes recovering from injury.
Prior to his stint at Maryland, Higgins served as an offensive student assistant at Michigan State during the 2015 season. He helped the offensive line coaches during practices, run-throughs and meetings and was responsible for the offense's statistical breakdowns. He also spent the spring semester of 2015 as an administrative coach, helping run winter conditioning drills.
During his undergraduate, Higgins played for the Spartans' football team during a successful period that saw MSU win three bowl games and win a Big Ten title. He was a member of the Spartans' 2012 Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl champions, the 2014 Rose Bowl champions and the 2015 Cotton Bowl champions.
Higgins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Michigan State in May, 2016.
