Flavin picked up his first collegiate victory of the season at the Mountaineer Intercollegiate this past week. He ended the tournament at six- under par for a total score of 210 strokes, his best three round score of the season. In the first round, Flavin shot a 68 for four-under par. Concluding his last three holes on Tuesday, he tallied a 69 for three-under par in the second round. Flavin's last day brought a one- over par round of 73, but his exceptional play in the first two rounds helped him secure the win by one stroke.
This is the first time this season and sixth time in his career that Flavin has been named Miami's Male Athlete of the Week. He last won it for the week of April 4-10, 2016.
Kukoc was dominant all-around as a six rotation player in Miami's two victories last weekend on the road. She finished with 23 kills for an average of 3.29 per set. She made only three errors in 48 attempts for an impressive .417 attack percentage from the outside. She also got it on done of the defensive end, averaging 2.00 digs per set. Kukoc finished with 14 kills and a .462 attack percentage in a 3-0 win over Central Michigan Friday. She followed by nearly recording a double-double with nine kills and 10 digs in a 3-1 win over Eastern Michigan the next night. Kukoc scored 25.0 points on the weekend, averaging 3.57 points per set.
This is the first time this season and in her career that Kukoc has been named Miami's Female Athlete of the Week.
The next Miami Athletes of the Week will be announced on Monday, Oct. 24.
