- Miami recorded its first win in a season opener since 2007 when the RedHawks beat Ball State 14-13.
- Making their first career starts for the RedHawks offense were Drew Kummer, Nate Becker and Alonzo Smith. On the defensive side of the ball, AJ Burdine, TJ Williams and Buchi Okafor made their first starts.
- Coming off his redshirt season, wide receiver Chris Hudson's first career reception was a 10-yard touchdown pass to open up the scoring for the 2015 season.
- Austin Gearing, a former quarterback, got his first action at his new position of defensive end. His first tackle as a member of the D-line came against one of his own when he took down Presbyterian's quarterback in the fourth quarter.
- Redshirt freshman Gus Ragland made his first appearance at quarterback for the RedHawks, mixing in time with Drew Kummer.
- Ragland's first completion was an 8-yard pass to Jared Murphy in the first quarter.
- Sophomore safety Tony Reid tallied his first career fumble recovery, a critical one in the end zone to stop a Presbyterian scoring threat in the first quarter.
- A 50-yard pass in the second quarter set a new career long for Drew Kummer (pass) and Jared Murphy (reception). Kummer would top this number in the fourth with a 52-yard connection with Rokeem Williams.
- Drew Kummer set a new career high for single-game passing yards with 255. His previous game high came in 2013 against Bowling Green when he totaled 100 yards through the air.
- Alonzo Smith recorded his first career touchdown run with a 1-yard charge to put the RedHawks up 13-0 in the second quarter.
- The following players saw their first action as RedHawks: Gus Ragland, Billy Bahl, Kenny Young, Alonzo Smith, Leonard Ross, Chris Hudson and Nate Trawick,
- Jared Murphy broke his previous mark for single-game receiving yards (91 vs. Ohio in 2014), totaling 101. This was his first career 100-yard game.
- Drew Kummer finished with two touchdown passes on the day, doubling his previous career total of one.
