Softball
Last Week: Miami (21-13 overall; 5-1 MAC) went 3-2 during the week, pulling into a tie for the early Mid-American Conference lead. The RedHawks dropped a 10-0 decision to Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday in non-conference action. The game ended in six innings due to the run-rule. (Recap) Miami dodged the raindrops to earn a doubleheader sweep of Buffalo on Friday. The RedHawks took the opener, 6-0. They then held on for a 9-8 victory in the nightcap. (Recap) Miami dropped its first Mid-American Conference game as it fell to Kent State, 9-1, on Saturday. (Recap) The ‘Hawks picked up a huge win on Sunday, giving Kent State its first loss in Mid-American Conference play. The RedHawks knocked off the Golden Flashes, 4-3, in an intense, hard-fought contest. (Recap) Earlier in the week, junior pitcher Amber Logemann was named MAC East Pitcher of the Week (Release) This Week: The RedHawks hit the road for seven games this week. First is a non-conference doubleheader at Wright State on Tuesday beginning at 4 p.m. Miami returns to MAC play over the weekend. It travels to Bowling Green on Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. The ‘Hawks will then head to Toledo for single games on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
Women’s Tennis
Last Week: Miami moved to 6-0 in Mid-American Conference action with a pair of wins last weekend. The RedHawks battled to seize a 4-3 win at Eastern Michigan on Friday. (Recap) Miami came back to blank Toledo, 7-0, on Sunday. With a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles, senior Ramona Costea and sophomore Andreea Badileanu won their 12thstraight match in the third flight and helped Miami win its 11th consecutive regular-season MAC match. (Recap) This Week: Miami travels to Bowling Green for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, April 11 in its lone match of the week.
Synchronized Skating
This Week: Miami is one of two teams representing the United States at the ISU World Championships in Hamilton, Ontario this weekend. The event runs from Friday, April 10 to Saturday, April 11.
Golf
Last Week: Miami was idle last week. This Week: The RedHawks return to action with the Hoosier Invitational this coming weekend in Bloomington, Indiana. Miami will play 36 holes on Saturday, and complete the event with one final round of 18 holes on Sunday.
Men’s Track & Field
Last Week: The RedHawks hosted the 30th annual Miami Invitational, with the entire meet crammed into Saturday. Inclement weather in the surrounding area expanded the field to over 600 athletes on Friday and that upped the level of competition for the weekend. The Red and White finished third in the team standings with 92.5 points, getting first-place performances from Sam Chester in the 110m hurdles (14.70) and Tyler Yee in the javelin (199-5), respectively (Recap). This Week: Miami stays in Oxford to host the All-Ohio Championships. The meet runs on Friday and Saturday.
Women’s Track & Field
Last Week: The majority of the RedHawks remained in Oxford for the Miami Invitational, where they got victories from Maria Scavuzzo (10,000m; 38:41.94), Briah Owens (100m; 12.46) and Amelia Strickler (shot put; 52-6.5) and finished fourth in the team standings with 77 points (Recap). This Week: Miami stays in Oxford to host the All-Ohio Championships. The meet runs on Friday and Saturday.
Baseball
Last Week: The RedHawks dropped a pair of midweek games to Marshall and No. 7 Louisville. This past weekend, the Red & White traveled to Bowling Green. The team earned a split in a Saturday doubleheader, winning game one, 8-3, before falling in game two, 7-5. Sunday saw both teams score more than ten runs, with Bowling Green prevailing, 18-12 (Recap). This Week: The week ahead features two familiar foes. First, the RedHawks will travel to Huntington, W.V. to take on Marshall on Tuesday. Then, Miami will return home to host the Raiders of Wright State on Wednesday. The weekened matchup features a home series with Buffalo. That series will open up Friday at 6 p.m.
