AROUND THE HORN
• With five hits this past week, senior Matt Honchel passed Brandon Hillier (‘02-’05) for fourth all-time in career hits at Miami. Now, Honchel is tied for third all-time with 261 career hits.
• Junior Chad Sedio has reached base safely in 23 of 24 games this season (including 22 straight). Honchel has reached base in 22 of 25 games.
• Honchel leads the team with 12 runs batted in. He also has three multi-RBI games, which ties him for the team lead with fellow senior Scott Slappey.
• Sophomore RHP Jacob Banks has been a solid starter for the RedHawks despite a 1-5 record. His 3.16 ERA leads all Miami weekend starters and he also boasts a .211 opponent batting average
• Redshirt Freshman Spencer Dull recorded his first career RBI as a RedHawk against Marshall this week. Last week, he recorded his first career hit against Wright State.

ON TAP: The RedHawks travel to Bowling Green to take on the Falcons for their second Mid-American Conference road series of the season.
ABOUT BOWLING GREEN (7-16, 1-5 MAC): The Falcons come into the weekend on a two-game win streak. They went on the road last weekend to take on Northern Illinois, dropping two of three and winning the final game on Sunday. This past Tuesday, the BGSU took down The University of Findlay, 10-0. In terms of common opponents faced, the Falcons met the Campbell Fighting Camels earlier in March for a three-game series. The Falcons dropped all three contests (Miami went 0-1 against Campbell). Last season, BGSU went 25-37, including a 15-12 conference record, placing them third in the MAC East. In the 2014 MAC Tournament, the Falcons went 0-2. Their first loss came against eventual tournament champion Kent State and their second came against Western Michigan.

SERIES HISTORY: The RedHawks are 92-63 all-time against the Falcons. The two programs last met last season in Oxford. Miami took the first two games of the series, including a 5-4 extra innings victory in the Friday matchup.
LAST WEEKEND: The RedHawks dropped all three games of their conference series against Central Michigan. The latter two games saw the Red & White drop back-to-back one-run contests.
Earlier this week, the Red & White dropped a pair of midweek games to Louisville and Marshall.
HONCHEL RISING: Honchel has moved up the career batting average list and currently sits at sixth all-time with a .358 average. In addition, he enters the week tied for third all-time in career hits at Miami with 261. This season, Honchel is off to a hot start, boasting a .371 batting average with eight doubles, 12 runs scored and 12 runs batted in. In addition, he is tied for the team lead with 11 multi-hit games and has reached base safely in 22 of 25 games this season. He has gotten at least one hit in 19 of 25 games this season.
SOLID SEDIO: Chad Sedio has become a staple for the Miami baseball team at shortstop. The junior is hitting .330 and has a .408 on-base percentage. He is a career .306 hitter and has been a solid piece of the lineup during his time at Miami. He has reached base safely in 22 straight games and has 11 multi-hit games. He also leads the team with 17 runs scored.
YACEK GETTING IT DONE: Sophomore Adam Yacek earned himself a .313 batting average over the span of four games this past week. He also scored one run while nothing two runs batted in. In Sunday’s game against Central Michigan, the sophomore hit a home run, his second of the season. While he did appear sporadically at the beginning of the season, Yacek has become a regular in the Miami lineup. His .317 season batting average ranks him third on the team and .483 slugging percentage ranks second on the team. Defensively, he has yet to commit an error.
