Gamecocks Clip RedHawks, 2-0

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The RedHawks (2-6, 0-0 MAC) battled hard but fell to the Gamecocks, 2-0 on Friday. Ryan Powers was dominant even in defeat.
South Carolina got the game’s only runs on a two-run homer run in the bottom of the second inning. Powers (L, 1-3) went seven and a third innings, allowing two runs and just four hits. The RedHawks outhit the Gamecocks, 5-4. However, they left six runners on base compared to four left on base for South Carolina.
Matt Honchel continued his hot start to the season. He went 2-for-4 with two doubles. The RedHawks return to action tomorrow against South Carolina for game two of the series. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. and will be televised on SEC Network+ and WatchESPN.
