Jill Kohrs: 2015-16 Hall of Fame Member
12/10/2015 12:00:00 AM | Women's Volleyball
Jill Kohrs '84, a powerful left-side attacker, lifted Miami volleyball to its first three MAC titles in 1980, 1981 and 1982. Competing for the Red and White from 1980-83, Kohrs was a two-time All-MAC selection, earning first-team distinction in 1982 as the Red and White captured the first MAC regular-season crown. It was the conference's first season holding regular-season matches instead of only sponsoring a tournament format. Kohrs and the 1980 team advanced to the Midwest Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (MAIAW) regional championship and amassed a 41-10 record, which continues to stand as the most wins in program history. The following year Kohrs and the Red and White again made history, earning the program's first NCAA Tournament bid.
Kohrs is one of seven members joining the Hall of Fame this weekend. He is joined by Colleen Day '04 (women's basketball), Damon Frierson '99 (men's basketball), Bob Gardner '78 (men's tennis), Doug Krause '72 (football), Kirk Springs '82 (football) and Tim Winans '85 (men's swimming).
As a reminder to those planning to attend the dinner, the location was changed to the Armstrong Center to meet a high demand of attendees. More information can be found HERE.
