John Kenning joined G4S as Regional CEO for G4S’ North America & Technology Region in 2014. G4S North America & Technology provides a wide range of consulting, investigations, security, technology, and youth services solutions across multiple private and public sectors. Kenning’s extensive knowledge of managing business-to-business enterprises will help drive the region’s businesses to achieve and surpass sales, operational efficiencies, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives. With more than 59,000 employees in the United States and Canada, Kenning's leadership role is to direct, coordinate, evaluate and motivate the businesses and support business units across the region, enabling the company to meet and exceed, growth and market share objectives.
Prior to joining G4S, Kenning was Executive Vice President and President, Commercial business for OfficeMax. In this role, he led $3.5 billion P&L for the global, business-to-business (B2B) division with responsibility for 8,000 employees across sales, marketing, operations, supply chain, IT, pricing, and customer care call centers, in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. He was part of a leadership team that implemented a strategic shift to higher margin products and services, leveraging the existing customer base. He also supported the sale of OfficeMax to Office Depot in 2012.
Kenning has a proven track record of leading global organizations. Prior to his role at OfficeMax, he was President, North America Commercial for ADT/Tyco Security Services, where he was responsible for the North American P&L, overseeing sales, marketing, operations, IT, installation, service and customer care, which included multiple customer service centers for all sectors of ADT/Tyco’s $2+ billion commercial security business with more than 10,000 associates. In this role, he led the transformation of the business to a technology services leader and also led the separation of the Residential/Commercial Security business in North America.
Prior to his role at ADT/Tyco Security Services, Kenning served as Senior Vice President, Global Sales and Global Partners, at Nortel Networks, Inc., where he championed Nortel’s transition from a product-focused company to a solutions company by creating a global infrastructure to support sales, assessment, design and implementation of services. John was the integration leader for sales and marketing during the sale of Nortel to Avaya. John also served as President of the start-up firm, Nanovations Technology, in the photonics industry where he had responsibility for sales, marketing, business development, R&D, manufacturing and distribution. Nanovations raised more than $40 million in funding under his leadership from lead investors Motorola and JP Morgan Chase. Kenning began his career at Comdisco, where he rose through the ranks to serve as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the $3.5 billion company as well as President of Communications Capital.
He is a past board member of the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Kenning holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Miami University.
