Miami Athletes of the Week

OXFORD, Ohio – For their performances last week football senior defensive back Quinten Rollins and soccer senior midfielder Kelsey Dinges are Miami’s Athletes of the Week connected by Frontier Communications for the week of Sept. 15-21.
Rollins recorded a career-high eight tackles and two interceptions in the 31-24 loss at Cincinnati on Saturday night. The fifth-year senior added two pass breakups, matching his career-high. His first interception helped setup a Miami touchdown that gave the RedHawks a 14-7 lead and intercepted his second pass of the game in the third quarter.
This is the first time this season and third time in his career that Rollins has earned Miami’s Male Athlete of the Week honor. The first two times he won the award for his efforts on the basketball court. The last came for the week of Nov. 12-18, 2012.
Dinges was the difference maker in a pair of tight Miami wins over the weekend. Against Marshall, Dinges netted both of the RedHawks’ goals in an eventual 2-1 win. In only 60 minutes, Dinges fired six of the RedHawks’ 17 shots and showcased a powerful leg with both goals coming from over 20 yards out. The senior once again lifted the Red and White to a win on Sunday as her goal in the 62nd minute snapped a 2-2 tie in a 3-2 win over three-time defending Missouri Valley Conference champion and 2013 NCAA second round qualifier Illinois State. She has scored in four-straight matches, picking up five goals in that span. Four of those tallies have been game-winning goals during Miami’s four-match win streak.
This is the second time this season and fifth time in her career that Dinges has earned Miami’s Female Athlete of the Week honor. She last won it two weeks ago, for the week of Sept. 1-7.
