As part of a continued effort to help bring an end to hunger in our community, the Kroger Co. donated 192 turkeys, which translates to 1,721 meals to the Oxford Food Pantry - with a helping hand from Miami football.
On Tuesday, December 16, Kroger presented a check to representatives from the Oxford Food Pantry. As part of Kroger’s partnership with Miami University and participation in Touchdown for Turkeys, Kroger donated 192 turkeys, which translated to six turkeys per touchdown Miami football scored during the 2014 campaign. This season, the Miami RedHawks scored 32 touchdowns.
Since 2009, Kroger has donated 1,014 turkeys. The Oxford Food Pantry determines the need within the community and distributes to local families.
“Kroger feels strongly about supporting those in our communities who need assistance,” said Sukanya Madlinger, President of Kroger’s Cincinnati/Dayton Division. “This altruism is essential to our core values and we welcome such an innovative way to make a difference.”
