Andrew Hendrix, a member of the Miami University football team, was named Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week following his efforts in a 42-41 win over UMass last Saturday. The announcement was made by the league office on Monday morning (Oct. 6).
Hendrix quarterbacked one of the all-time epic comebacks in Miami history, helping the RedHawks erase a 27-point deficit late in the second quarter. The win also snapped Miami’s 21-game losing streak.
The senior completed 32-of-58 passes for 437 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 91 yards on the ground which included a game-winning 1-yard rushing score with 2:58 left in the game. In all, Hendrix finished with 528 total yards, the second-highest total in the history of Miami football. His 32 completed passes (10th), 58 pass attempts (third), 437 passing yards (sixth) and four touchdowns (fifth) can now be found in the Miami record books as well.
Hendrix has completed 118-of-249 passes for 1,779 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. His yardage total ranks ninth-best in the country, while his 14 touchdowns rank 14th. He is currently on pace for 3,558 yards and 28 touchdowns which would place him second in Miami history in both categories.
