LINCOLN, Neb. -- Senior Stephanie Danesis and sophomore Christiana Raymond earned singles wins, but those were the only points Miami managed in a 5-2 loss to Washington State at the Nebraska Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb. Three of the Cougars wins were in three-set thrillers.
Washington State (8-2) had swept the doubles competition and taken the No. 1 singles match when Danesis earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3, making the score 2-1. The Cougars added victories in the next three matches to clinch the overall win before Raymond captured a 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 decision at No. 4.
Miami looks to snap a four-match losing streak tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. (CT) when it faces 28th-ranked Nebraska.
