MEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week: Miami (3-5) snapped a four-game losing streak Saturday as the RedHawks topped Belmont, 66-61, at Millett Hall in Miami's only game of the week. Four RedHawks reached double figures, led by a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds from senior forward Julian Mavunga, his fifth of the year. (RECAP) (PHOTO GALLERY) This Week: Miami plays a pair of contests, hosting Evansville on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. at Millett Hall before making the short trek to Columbus to face No. 2 Ohio State Thursday, Dec. 22 at 8:30 p.m. at Nationwide Arena.
Last week, former Miami standout Kenny Hayes ('10) was invited to the Cleveland Cavaliers' training camp and was on the roster for their preseason game Friday at the Detroit Pistons. (RELEASE)

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Last Week: The RedHawks (7-3) extended their winning streak to three games with a pair of home wins over local rivals last week. On Tuesday, Miami topped Wright State, 70-63, behind a strong outing from junior guard Courtney Osborn, who totaled 27 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and four assists. (RECAP) Saturday, the 'Hawks erased an 11-point first-half deficit to down Cincinnati, 74-69, at Millett Hall as junior forward Kirsten Olowinski chipped in a double-double and Osborn added 23 points. (RECAP) (PHOTO GALLERY) This Week: The RedHawks continue their homestand tonight (Monday, Dec. 19) as Miami hosts Northeastern at 7 p.m. at Millett Hall as the 'Hawks look for a fourth straight win.
FOOTBALL
Sophomore wide receiver Nick Harwell became the first RedHawk player since Ben Roethlisberger in 2003 to earn mention on a major publication's All-America team, as he was tabbed Honorable Mention All-America by Sports Illustrated last Tuesday. (RELEASE) Miami's football team also took time out from final exams last Wednesday to bag groceries at Kroger as part of the Turkeys for Touchdowns joint effort between Miami Football and Kroger. ICE HOCKEY
Last Monday, junior defenseman Steven Spinell was named CCHA Gladiator Defenseman of the Week after helping Miami go 10-for-11 on the penalty kill against Ohio State while adding an assist, blocking five shots and posting a +3 rating on the weekend. (RELEASE) Former Miami star Jarod Palmer ('10) made his NHL debut last Saturday after being called up to the Minnesota Wild from the AHL's Houston Aeros. (RELEASE) He had a strong debut, playing 15:38 minutes of ice time while firing a game-high six shots on goal against the New York Islanders.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
A pair of RedHawks was named Third-Team All-Great Lakes Region by the NSCAA last week as junior Jess Kodiak and sophomore Kayla Zakrzewski were two of just six players from the Mid-American Conference to earn all-region honors on any of the three teams. (RELEASE)
HawkTawk is off for the holiday break and will return to the air Thursday, Jan. 12 from Bruno's in Liberty Township.
