Nick Harwell Earns All-America Mention

OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami wide receiver Nick Harwell (Missouri City, TX) became the first RedHawk player since Ben Roethlisberger in 2003 to earn mention on a major publication's All-America team.
Tuesday (Dec. 13), Sports Illustrated listed the sophomore standout among its honorable mention All-America picks, being included with receivers from Michigan State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Southern California.
Harwell had a sensational sophomore season, grabbing a Miami-record 97 catches for 1,425 yards in just 11 games. In addition to scoring nine touchdowns, Harwell averaged 14.7 yards per catch and 129.5 yards per game.
SI named Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon and USC's Robert Woods as first-team wide receiver selections, while Western Michigan's Jordan White and Baylor's Kendall Wright were second-teamers. Joining Harwell among the receiver group who won honorable mention kudos were Oklahoma's Ryan Broyles, Michigan State's B.J. Cunningham, Houston's Patrick Edwards, Notre Dame's Michael Floyd, USC's Marqise Lee, Nevada's Rishard Matthews, Toledo's Eric Page, Rutgers' Mohamed Sanu, Clemson's Sammy Watkins and Washington State's Marquess Wilson.
Of the 14 receivers honored by Sports Illustrated, Harwell was one of only three sophomores.
