Ice Hockey
Last Week: Miami hosted its annual alumni weekend by welcoming former assistant coach Chris Bergeron and the Bowling Green Falcons to Steve Cady Arena. The RedHawks were unfriendly hosts, though, taking four of six points in the CCHA series. On Friday night, freshman Blake Coleman scored twice while senior goaltender Cody Reichard earned Miami's first shutout of the year 4-0 (RECAP). The following night, BGSU scored with 1:12 left in regulation to force overtime, then stole the extra point in the shootout. Senior forward and co-captain Alden Hirschfeld, junior forward Reilly Smith and freshman forward Austin Czarnik each tallied a goal and an assist as the RedHawks (6-6-2, 4-4-2-1 CCHA), extended their unbeaten streak to six games. (RECAP) Congratulations to Czarnik to was named CCHA Rookie of the Week last Monday for his efforts against Michigan. This Week: The RedHawks step out of conference for a holiday showcase, the Denver Cup. Action opens Friday at 6:37 p.m. against Providence, then finished against the hosts Satuday at 9:07 on Saturday.

Volleyball
Last Week: The RedHawks were eliminated from the Mid-American Conference Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Ohio in the quarterfinal round. The action was back and forth throughout, but the RedHawks fell short in each set, 25-22. 25-20, 25-22. Miami finished the season with a 16-15 record. (RECAP) Prior to the tournament, senior Cassie Farrell earned a pair of MAC awards, being named first-team all-conference on Wednesday (RELEASE) and MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week (RELEASE) This Week: The 2011 season concludes Saturday with a 5 p.m. match at Cincinnati.
Football
Last Week: Nick Harwell and Zac Dysert had record-breaking performances on Wednesday evening, but it was not enough as Western Michigan pulled out a 24-21 win over the RedHawks. Harwell registered his eighth 100-yard receiving game, while Dysert completed 42 of his 54 pass attempts, topping Ben Roethlisberger's 41 against Northwestern in 2002. (RECAP) This Week: The 2011 season concludes tomorrow night with against rival Ohio in the "Battle of the Bricks". Thirteen seniors will make the their final collegiate appearances for the RedHawks. Kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m. with the game being televised live on ESPN2.
Men's Basketball
Last Week: The 2011-12 season tipped off in earnest last week as Miami split a pair of action against a pair of local rivals. In the season opener Monday, the RedHawks posted a thrilling 72-67 overtime win over Dayton at Millett Hall. Senior forward Julian Mavunga led the way with 17 points and 11 rebounds, scoring seven of his points in overtime, while freshman guard Brian Sullivan debuted with 14 points, including four 3-pointers. (RECAP) On Friday night, Bill Edwards led all players with 21 points, while Mavunga added 17, but the RedHawks fell 66-60 at 13th-ranked Xavier. (RECAP) This Week: The RedHawks continue their five-game road swing with games at Saginaw Valley State Monday at 7 and at Southeast Missouri State at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Women's Basketball
Last Week: Miami rebounded from a season-opening loss with a pair of victories during the week. The RedHawks held Marshall to 29 percent shooting, including 2-for-17 from behind the arc in a 56-49 victory in Huntington. Courtney Osborn led the RedHawks with 17 points. (RECAP) Osborn followed with 25 points, five assists and three steals as the RedHawks opened the home schedule on Saturday with an 81-56 victory over Massachusetts. (RECAP).This Week: The RedHawks host Big Ten Conference member Indiana Tuesday at 7 p.m., then travel to DeLand, Fla. to face Stetson on Friday afternoon (1 p.m.)
HawkTawk takes the week off to celebrate Thanksgiving, but returns on Dec. 1 at Kroger.
