Army at Miami
Oct. 8, 2011 - Yager Stadium - Oxford, Ohio
Series/General Notes
- In a pregame ceremony, Miami University unveiled the statues of four more members of its famous Cradle of Coaches. Bronze images of Ara Paseghian, Bo Schembechler, Earl "Red" Blaik and John Pont were dedicated. Coach Parseghian was in attendance. These statues join three others that were unveiled in 2010, including Paul Dietzel, Carm Cozza and Weeb Ewbank. A statue of the eighth member of the Cradle, Paul Brown, will be erected next fall.
- The victory by Miami broke a two-to-two deadlock in the series between the two institutions.
Team Notes
- Miami scored its initial first-quarter touchdown of the 2011 campaign today on a 13-yard pass from Zac Dysert to Nick Harwell.
- Miami finished the game with 503 yards of total offense, the first time it reached the 500-mark since hitting 552 at Kent State in 2009. The previous high for total offense this season was 325 at Minnesota.
- The 35 points that Miami scored against Army were its most in a single game this season. The RedHawks scored 23 points against both Minnesota and Bowling Green.
- The win was the first in the head coaching career of Don Treadell, who was named to the post at his alma mater on Dec. 31.
Individual Notes
- With pass plays of 45, 36 and 28 yards between quarterback Zac Dysert and Nick Harwell today, that duo has combined for Miami's eight longest plays from scrimmage this season and nine of the 10 longest plays in 2011.
- With his 36-yard reception in the fourth quarter, Nick Harwell became only the second player to record at least 100 yards in four consecutive games. He scored his first touchdown of the season in the first quarter on a 13-yard pass from Dysert.
- Nick Harwell's 186 yards receiving ranked as the third-most in Miami history. He already holds the school record with a 219-yard effort vs. Ohio last year. After sitting out the season opener due to team violations, Nick Harwell has logged 162 yards vs. Minnesota (on 12 catches), 139 yards vs. Bowling Green (8), 149 yards vs. Cincinnati (6) in his other three games. Entering the Army game, Harwell ranked second in NCAA statistics for yards per game (150.0), eighth in catches per game (8.7) and ninth in yards per catch (17.3). Career-wise, nearly halfway through his sophomore season, the native of Missouri City, Texas already has 100 receptions for 1,507 yards) and eight touchdowns.
- Miami quarterback Zac Dysert rushed and passed for touchdowns against Army, marking only the third time in his career that has happened. As a redshirt freshman in 2009, Dysert had one passing TD and two rushing TDs vs. Toledo, then he had one touchdown each on the ground and through the air vs. Bowling Green.
- Sophomore Justin Semmes had career longs for pass reception (17-yard touchdown) and kickoff return (26) during the contest. He finished the game with two catches for 25 yards.
- Redshirt freshman Willie Culpepper enjoyed the best game of his career, rushing for nine and collecting 58 yards as a receiver on four catches.
- Running back Erik Finklea had a season- and career-best 90 yards rushing. His previous best was 71 at Missouri in the season opener.
- Dysert's passing total of 342 yards was the 23rd best in Miami history. It was the eighth time in his career that he topped 300 yards in a contest.
- With four touchdown passes on the day (now six on the season), he climbed into fifth place on the career touchdowns chart with 31. He passed Mel Olix (28), Neil Dougherty (27) and Larry Fortner (27) on Saturday.
