Editor's Note: Senior co-captain Jordan Gafford will provide insight on Miami's trip to the GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile through a series of journals on MURedHawks.com. While the team is in Oxford, entries will be posted at various intervals, but will appear daily from Mobile.
Finally, the game has come! I am so hyped and ready to play!
This morning at 11 a.m., Coach Don Treadwell addressed the team for the first time. I know the guys were excited and anxious at the same time. Coach Treadwell spoke briefly about his time at Miami, his love for Miami, and his plan for the future. I was so happy and proud to call him coach because he seems like a great man who really is passionate about Miami Football. I share his passion for Miami and am so thankful that the leader of the program truly loves Miami.
Today, we attended the Mayor's Luncheon. It was a great chance for us to meet and visit with alumni, fans, and our families. Seeing Redhawk Nation down here in Mobile really got me excited to play. Our band and cheerleaders were also at the luncheon. When I heard the band start playing the fight song I wanted to put the pads on and start the game right then and there. The luncheon's guest speaker was Danica Patrick.
The rest of the afternoon was spent on game preparation in meetings and film. Guys also spent time getting treatment, resting, and getting their minds and bodies ready to play.
After dinner at the hotel, we all packed on the buses and headed downtown to attend a Mardi Gras parade. The guys loved this experience. The parade had bands, floats, and tons of action. I think DeMarco Paine won the award for the most beads. He had so many around his neck that he couldn't even move his head. This was one of the highlights of the week and was fun to get a taste of the culture.
We finished the day with a few more short meetings including a short highlight tape created by the video staff. These guys do an awesome job and are such an integral part of our football family.
And now the answers to the "name that mustache" game from yesterday....

From left to right, the proud owner of these mustaches are: Will Diaz, Seth Philip, and Bob Gulley. I am sure their parents are so proud right now.
Hope to see you at the game tomorrow. It is going to be sweet!
Love and Honor,
JG
