Editor's Note: Senior co-captain Jordan Gafford will provide insight on Miami's trip to the GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile through a series of journals on MURedHawks.com. While the team is in Oxford, entries will be posted at various intervals, but will appear daily from Mobile.
What another beautiful day in Mobile! The weather was again sunny and in the low 60's.
The day started off with a fantastic luncheon at Battleship Park. We were treated some more southern-style food - this time barbecue. We also were able to tour the various sites at Battleship Park. The park has several airplanes, a submarine, and an enormous retired battleship, the USS Alabama. The guys really enjoyed the sites, especially the team history buff - Armand Robinson.
Later in the afternoon, we had our second practice of the week at UMS-Wright. Much of our practice was under the lights tonight. It is always fun to be under the lights and it really added to the enthusiasm. Additional motivation to practice hard came from a visitor - Miss Alabama. She was introduced at practice and broke us down to begin practice on a "Roll Tide". The guys have really embraced Alabama. Again, the guys put in some solid work and we got one step closer to beating MTSU and bringing home a bowl trophy.
Tonight we had some free time to get dinner on our own. Some of us went to a local steakhouse while other guys went downtown to grab some more of Mobile's finest seafood. I have not been hungry since I stepped off the bus - they really are taking great care of us here.
I included a mustache picture as promised. Hopefully more will come daily - the 'staches really are spectacular. I thought I would start off with my personal favorite mustache. To give you a hint, this mustache belongs to a staple member of the Miami University Equipment staff. The answer will be revealed in tomorrow's blog with more mustaches to come.
Tomorrow will be an action-packed day that starts bright and early at 6 a.m. Only two more days until the the game!
Love and Honor,
JG
