Editor's Note: Senior co-captain Jordan Gafford will provide insight on Miami's trip to the GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile through a series of journals on MURedHawks.com. While the team is in Oxford, entries will be posted at various intervals, but will appear daily from Mobile.
Hello from Mobile!
Today was an awesome day. The blog is coming to you from the bus on our way back from a southern style seafood boil. Both teams and traveling parties attended a great dinner at Ladd-Pebbles Stadium - the site of the game on January 6th. It was fun to have both teams at the dinner and both teams seemed to be sizing one another up - all in good fun. I am leaving the dinner completely stuffed and totally satisfied with some great seafood.
During dinner, we were entertained by a beautiful young girl who sang and played the piano. A receiver on the team, Luke Swift, instantly fell in love with the girl. I think he may have proposed to her before we left. If you come down to the game, maybe you can attend the engagement party - too bad she turned him down.
Practice today was awesome. The guys did a great job of competing -- it was very sharp and physical. Coach Guidry continues to do a great job of keeping the intensity and sense of urgency at practice. Two more days of practice like today and we will be ready to roll on the 6th.
The weather was awesome today. I think it was in the low 60's, sunshine, and an awesome breeze rolling through. I sure could get used to the Southern weather.
Tonight some of the guys may roll over to downtown Mobile since we have a late curfew. The people here are awesome and are so friendly.
Tomorrow we have more bowl events and another practice. Can't wait for the game, but I'm having an awesome time for now. Hopefully, tomorrow I will include the "guess that mustache" game as promised in a previous journal. Maybe I'll use the new camera the bowl gave us to take the pictures. Stay tuned.
Love and Honor,
JG
