QUICK HITS:
1. It's the opening game of the Mid-American Conference season. Miami hasn't begun its league competition with a victory since an upset victory at Ball State in 2007. The RedHawks have lost four of their last five MAC openers, but had a string of nine consecutive wins from 1996 through 2004. Miami has started off 1-0 in MAC play 41 times. It's lost its MAC opener 20 times and tied once.
2. A national TV audience saw senior Trevor Cook (Sioux Falls, SD) kick four perfect field goals against Florida at The Swamp, the first of which gave Miami a shocking 3-0 lead over the third-ranked Gators.
3. Coach CARL "BULL" REESE's RedHawk defense impressed a national TV audience last Saturday at Florida, holding the Gators to just 212 total offensive yards, well below the 375 yards per game they averaged in 2009. Excluding two long runs of 72 and 41 yards, the Gators had a total of only 99 net yards on 54 other offensive plays.
