Sept. 25, 2010 - Memorial Stadium - Columbia, Mo.
MIAMI GAME NOTES
- Saturday marked the first meeting between the two teams. Miami entered the game 1-4 all-time against members of the Big 12 Conference (1-0 vs. Texas Tech, 0-2 vs. Oklahoma State, 0-1 vs. Colorado, 0-1 vs. Iowa State).
- Over the last 30 years, Miami stands 6-17 overall vs. ranked opponents. The RedHawks have lost six straight against members of the Top 25, dating back to a 49-27 victory over No. 22 Bowling Green on Dec. 4, 2003. Earlier this season, Miami lost 34-12 at then-No. 3 Florida, despite trailing 21-12 with 13 minutes remaining in the game.
- Senior Thomas Merriweather and redshirt freshman Josh Harvey made returns to the Show-Me State on Saturday. Merriweather hails from Flourissant outside St. Louis, while Harvey is a local product, having grown up in Columbia. Offensive Coordinator Carl "Bull" Reese is a 1966 graduate of Missouri, playing fullback for Dan Devine, then serving three different stints as an assistant coach.
- Miami had three fumbles (one lost) in their first eight plays of the game. Through the first three games, the RedHawks had only two fumbles, recovering both. The last time an opponent returned a fumble for a touchdown was on Sept. 19, 2009 when Western Michigan also capitalized on a miscue on the first offensive play.
- Miami was still scoreless after 15 minutes of play Saturday, marking the first quarter this year that Miami has not scored at least three points. The RedHawks had tallied points in 15 straight games dating back to the first quarter of the 2009 finale.
- The 28 points scored by Missouri in the first half mark the most by an opponent since Western Michigan scored the same total on Sept. 19, 2009. The Tigers final output of 51 points was the most allowed since 54-21 loss to Kent State on Oct. 25, 2008.
- Trevor Cook was 2 of 3 on field goals Saturday, hitting a 23-yarder before a miss from 46 yards out in the second quarter. In the third, he booted a 40-yarder, his longest of the season. The senior entered the game 5-of-5 this season and 27 of 40 during his career.
- Pat Hinkel made his second interception of the season (and his career) near the end of the first half. The sophomore from Westlake, Ohio also make a pick against Eastern Michigan on Sept . 11.
- Redshirt freshman Austin Boucher made his first career appearance late in the third quarter. His first play was a handoff to Tracy Woods. Boucher later threw his first career touchdown pass, hitting Jamal Rogers with 12-yard pass with 1:40 remaining in the game.
