OXFORD, Ohio -- A total of 105 players checked into fall football camp today (Aug. 5) at Miami University, readying for their first day of practice on Saturday.
MURedHawks.com analyzed the RedHawks' 2010 roster and came up with some interesting facts, statistics and trivia. Here's the top 10:
10. Two true freshmen wear the lowest and highest numbered jerseys. Running back ORNE BEY (Monroeville, PA) will wear No. 1, while defensive lineman JOHN STEELE (Cleveland) will wear No. 99.
9. The tallest RedHawk is senior D.J. Svabik (Van Wert) at 6-6, while his shortest teammate is 5-7 cornerback TYRONE JONES (Dayton). The heaviest Miami football player is 325-pound offensive lineman Brandon Brooks (Milwaukee, WI) and the lightest RedHawk is 153-pound cornerback TREY PAYNE (Spring, TX). Seventy four of the 105 Miami football players weigh 200 pounds or more.
8. The state of Ohio has sent a total of 51 players to Miami, while Texas ranks second with 11 players on the RedHawk roster.
7. Monroeville, Pennsylvania's Gateway High School and Virginia's Woodbridge High School are each represented by three players.
6. Forty nine of the 105 Miami football players have earned at least one varsity letter.
5. There are 26 true freshmen on Miami's roster--including walk-ons--and there are 16 players with redshirt freshman status.
4. Kicker Trevor Cook (Sioux Falls, SD), safety Jordan Gafford (Columbus), linebacker DeAndre Gilmore (St. Louis, MO), offensive lineman Bob Gulley (Berea), running back Thomas Merriweather (Florissant, MO), receiver Armand Robinson (Reynoldsburg), receiver Jamal Rogers (Ft. Myers, FL), cornerback BRANDON STEPHENS (Strongsville), tight end Jordan Stevens (Monroeville, PA) will all seek to earn their fourth varsity letter in 2010.

2. There are four Miami players who have BROWN as their last name--AUSTIN (Woodbridge, VA), CORY (Grand Prairie, TX), D.J. (West Chester) and JORDAIN (Chicago, IL)--and four RedHawks whose last name is WILLIAMS -JoJo (Houston, TX), NATE (Parma), TRAVIS (Cooper City, FL) and WES (Houston, TX).
1. The youngest RedHawk player is freshman running back WILLIE CULPEPPER (San Antonio, TX) who celebrated his 18th birthday on August 1st, while the oldest player is Jordan Stevens who is 23 years and 31 days old.

Miami's new Three-Game Mini Package for the games against Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Ohio includes a reserved seat at the top of sections 3/5 and 2/6 at Yager, a free hot dog and drink voucher for every game--available at the exclusive season ticket holder concession line--and a Miami baseball cap (redeemable at the Sept. 11 game). Each Three-Game Mini Package costs only $59.95, a savings of nearly $30 per package.
The Friends and Family Package includes four game tickets to the Oct. 2 game against Kent State's Golden Flashes in sections 2 and 6 of Yager Stadium, four McDonald's Extra Value Meal vouchers (redeemable anytime) and four Miami baseball caps (redeemable at either the Eastern Michigan or Kent State game). If bought separately, this package would cost $184, but fans can order the Friends and Family Package in advance for just $39.95.
Single-game prices at Yager Stadium remain the same as last year: $20 for adults, $15 for youth and $15 for the Hawk's Nest (end zone reserved).
