The RedHawks open their 2010 home campaign on Sept. 11, 2010 versus Eastern Michigan. On a day that holds great importance in the lives of Americans; Miami Athletics will dedicate the day to Military Appreciation. In honor of all past and present service men and women, Miami will celebrate and recognize the efforts of Wright Patterson Air Force Base in nearby Dayton, Ohio. Additionally, there will be a special recognition in-game for a Wounded Warrior through the assistance of the Wounded Warrior Project.
From Tailgate Town to the game, the presence of Military Appreciation will be felt. Tailgate Town will feature Humvees and Military Vehicles along with interactive games, food, live music and fun! The National Anthem will be performed by a special guest from Wright Patterson Air Force Base during pre-game, as well as the colors will be presented by current service men and women from Wright Patterson.
Wright Patterson employees and families will receive a special group rate of $10 per person with an option of adding a hot dog and soft drink for only $2 (pre-purchase only). Additionally, the opening game on Sept. 11th will be the annual 'Night Under the Stars' day with Boy Scouts from the Dan Beard Council. Scouts will participate in engaging and fun filled activities over a two day period. Friday night, scouts will watch a movie on the video board of Yager Stadium and campout at the Miami Athletic complex. Saturday will begin with Miami student-athletes serving McDonald's breakfast to the scouts. The day will include opportunities for the scouts to tour the nature trails and museums on campus or free skate at the Goggin Ice Center. The scouts will also participate in pre-game activities on the field and will lead the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.
All scouts from the Dan Beard Council of Southwest Ohio are encouraged to participate in the tradition. To participate, all orders must be placed prior to August 30th by contacting your local Boy Scout Troup or the Dan Beard Council. CLICK HERE FOR ORDER FORM
