CINCINNATI - On the strength of a stout defense, featuring former Miami RedHawk standout Robbie Wilson, and an efficient offense, the Cincinnati Commandos defeated the Wisconsin Wolfpack 54-40 in front of a crowd of 2,758 to give the city of Cincinnati its first professional football championship.
The Commandos defense tied the CIFL title game record after recording three interceptions - one each by Wilson, defensive back EJ Underwood and linebacker Torry Cornett - and routinely came up with huge plays to end potential Wisconsin scoring drives.
Former Miami linebacker Clayton Mullins was also a member of the Commandos until a knee injury sidelined him last May.
