Oxford, Ohio - Miami University and the Oxford Chamber of Commerce's Miami Business Alliance (M.B.A.), who partnered for Miami Universities Homecoming Bicentennial campaign "Paint the Town Red," have teamed up once again for a campus and community wide campaign entitled "Think Pink Weekend" in an effort to support the fight against breast cancer while building campus and community spirit in the process. The event, which runs from Feb. 19-21, will undertake a community wide effort in raising funds for breast cancer research. The Chamber will show its community spirit by selling "Think Pink" t-shirts and collecting donations via donation jars placed at local Oxford businesses in an effort to raise money for breast cancer research.
Miami University Athletics will show its community spirit as well as it will use a series of sporting events, a hockey game on Feb. 19 & 20, and a men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Feb. 20, to raise public awareness for breast cancer. Miami University's Director of Marketing and Sales Anthony Azama states "Sports can create a great opportunity to highlight awareness for causes which need the community's attention, action and continued support." There will be opportunities to purchase pink Miami shirts and donate to breast cancer research at all three events on Feb. 19 and 20. The sorority Zeta Tau Alpha, Colleges Against Cancer and the American Cancer Society will be in attendance to show their support for the cause.
Miami women's basketball team will show its support for the cause by donning pink jerseys while the men's basketball and hockey teams will wear pink shoe laces. Coaches for women's basketball will be wearing pink tops while the men's basketball and hockey coaches will sport pink ties. The sporting event will give the community the opportunity to get involved through purchasing pink Miami t-shirts and making donations, while the women's basketball team will auction off their jerseys to raise money for breast cancer research.
