Editor's Note: Senior co-captain Jordan Gafford will provide insight on Miami's trip to the GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile through a series of journals on MURedHawks.com. While the team is in Oxford, entries will be posted at various intervals, but will appear daily from Mobile.
This blog is coming to you from a courtside seat at the Miami men's basketball game against UC. Right now it is halftime and the score is 35-28 with UC on top. The boys are playing well and I think they might just pull off another great home win at Millett.
I hope each of you can support them during the year in the same way you have supported us.
The past couple days have been great days of preparation for the game. The guys have been working hard and tempo at practice has been great. The guys have had a great sense of urgency at practice and I continue to be confident in the way we will play against MTSU.
Coach Guidry has done a great job of leading the team. The guys have continued to stay a disciplined and determined team. I would describe the guys as `hungry' and excited to prove to the country how far we have come as a team. It has been fun to hear from alumni and fans who are traveling with us to Mobile and I hope more and more fans decide to make the trip. It is going to be an awesome time.
On Wednesday, the guys will all head home for a week to spend time with their families for the holidays. It will be a great break and I know a lot of the guys from down south are excited to get out of this snow. I will be heading home to Columbus to see my family, including my 5-month-old nephew, Eli. Little kids scare me a bit because I lack experience with them but I am pumped to hang out with Eli and my family. Another perk of going home will be the home-cooked meal. My mom can do some work in a kitchen and I will most likely come back a couple pounds heavier next week.
I will be sure to send an update from home over the next week. Happy Holidays to you all.
Love and Honor, JG
