Miami RedHawks (7-4; 6-1 MAC, Tie-1st) vs. Temple Owls (8-3; 5-2 MAC, 3rd)
It's the biggest game at Yager Stadium since the Big Ben Era ... and a national television audience will be on hand to see it!
Coach Michael Haywood's Miami RedHawk football team, college football's most improved team, is atop the Mid-American Conference standings and still has a chance to play in the league's title game. But first, it must defeat the 8-3 Temple Owls on Tuesday night, Nov. 23, in Oxford.
QUICK HITS
1. Coach Michael Haywood'S RedHawks hope to improve their Mid-American Conference record to 7-1 next Tuesday against Temple. That would be Miami's best MAC record since 2004 when MU won the East Division title with a 7-1 record.
2. With a 7-4 record, Miami is now bowl eligible. Miami has six more victories than it recorded in all of 2009 (1-11). No other team in Division I college football has improved as much as the RedHawks.
3. The offensive duo of redshirt freshman quarterback Austin Boucher (Kettering) and senior running back Thomas Merriweather (Florissant, MO) led Miami past Akron. Boucher completed 22-of-32 passes for 213 yards in his first start, while Merriweather rushed for a career-high 141 yards on 17 carries at Akron.
4. In games decided by seven points or less this season, Miami has a perfect 5-0 record, defeating EMU, Kent State, CMU, Bowling Green and Akron.
5. Miami University's Athletic Department and McDonald's are teaming together to lend support for college football's most improved team, Coach Michael Haywood's Miami RedHawks. A special ticket offer for the RedHawks' regular-season football finale against Temple on Tuesday, Nov. 23, is now available. As a thank you for the fans' support, Miami is offering a Friends and Family "Thank You" offer that includes four tickets to the game, four McDonald's Extra Value Meals and a Cincinnati Bell "Black Friday" savings offer for just $29.95. The package must be purchased in advance, although it will be available for $40 at the stadium on game day.
6. Miami's 19-14 victory at Akron moved the RedHawks into a tie for first place in the tough MAC East Division. With one game to play, Miami and Ohio both have 6-1 records in conference play. Because of their loss to Ohio in game eight, the RedHawks don't control their own destiny. Besides having to beat Temple, Miami needs host Kent State to beat the Bobcats on Nov. 26. If that happens, the RedHawks will be MAC East Champs and would advance to the conference's championship game on Dec. 3 in Detroit. If Ohio wins its last game, the Bobcats would play in the MAC Championship.
