MIAMI GAME NOTES
- Miami leads the all-time 42-20-5.... At Bowling Green, the RedHawks are 20-9-4... The road team has won the last three meetings.
- With the win, Miami improves to 6-4 overall, a five-win improvement over last season. The RedHawks entered the game tied with Maryland (+4) for the most improved team in the country. Miami became bowl eligible for the first time since 2005, with the last postseason appearance coming at the GMAC Bowl in 2003.
- The win was Miami's third straight on the road after an 0-2 start. The winning streak marks the longest away from home since the RedHawks also won three in a row at the end of the 2005 season.
- Miami won on the final play game on Trevor Cook's 33-yard field goal. The last time Miami won on the final play of the game was Oct. 13, 2001, when Ben Roethlisberger threw a 70-yard pass to Eddie Tillitz.
- Sophomore left tackle Matt Kennedy returned to the starting lineup Wednesday. He missed the last five games with a leg injury. Kennedy opened the first four games for the RedHawks.
- Miami opened the scoring with an 18-yard run by Thomas Merriweather. The RedHawks have now scored first in three straight games and on six occasions in 2010.
- Merriweather rushed for 66 yards on 11 carries in the first quarter alone, marking his second highest total of the year. He finished the game with 88 yards on 17 attempts, ranking behind 105 vs. Eastern Michigan on Sept. 11.
- When Zac Dysert and Nick Harwell connected on a 41-yard completion in the first quarter, it marked the fourth straight game, and seventh this year, that Dysert has thrown a pass of 40 or more yards. He accomplished the feat three times last year, giving him 10 in his career.
- Will Diaz got a hand on a third-quarter field goal attempt that would have made the score 14-10. The block was the fourth of the season for the RedHawks, the second of a field goal.
- Nick Harwell caught his fourth touchdown pass in the last three games on Wednesday. He had a pair last week at Buffalo. With 10 catches for 125 yards, he now has 43 catches for 600 yards in the last five games. In his first five games as a RedHawk, he had just two grabs for 15 yards. The 10 catches were one shy of his career high.
- Trevor Cook returned to action after missing the Ohio and Buffalo games with a knee sprain. He hit three extra points, but missed a 41-yard field goal on the first play of the fourth quarter. Cook entered the game 10-of-11 this year on three-point tries.
- True freshman Dayonne Nunley had his team-high fourth interception of the season in the third quarter. Sophomore D.J. Brown set up Miami's final scoring drive with his first career interception.
- Senior Armand Robinson moved into seventh place on the single-season receptions chart with a catch in the fourth quarter. He now has with 65 through 10 games, passing Ryne Robinson's 64 in 2004.
