MIAMI GAME NOTES
- Miami snapped a two-game losing streak against Buffalo and now leads 11-2 all-time. In games at UB Stadium, the RedHawks are 5-1.
- The win was the second straight on the road for the RedHawks, who improve to 2-3 away from Oxford this year. Miami snapped a 12-game road losing streak at Central Michigan two weeks ago.
- Miami opened the scoring with a 5-yard pass from Zac Dysert to Nick Harwell. The RedHawks have now scored first in back-to-back games and on five occasions in 2010.
- Harwell had four receptions in the first quarter and finished with eight for 97 yards and two touchdowns. He has made 33 of his 35 catches (for 475 yards) in the last four games. His touchdown catches represent his first multiple-score game of his career (he entered the game with one career TD).
- True freshman Mason Krysinski made his collegiate debut in the middle of the first quarter when he kicked an extra point. Krysinski took over placement duties this week from Seth Philip, who replaced the injured Trevor Cook during the Central Michigan game.
- Miami's defense pitched its first first-half shutout of the 2010 season. The previous best came during the Colorado State game, when Miami led 14-3 at the break. Cincinnati was the only other team held without a point in a half, failed to score after intermission during its 45-3 victory.
- Freshman punter Zac Murphy had the three best kicks in his career on Saturday. With the wind at his back on each of the attempts, he equalied his season best of 50 in the first quarter, then hit 54- and 60-yarders in the fourth.
- Jerrell Wedge reached double-digits in tackles for the sixth time in his career. He had a season-high 12 stops, besting the 11 he made against Eastern Michigan. Wedge's career high is 15 stops against Kentucky last year.
- Miami set a new season high with five sacks against the Bulls. The RedHawks previously had four against Colorado State on Sept. 11.
- Thomas Merriweather's two-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was Miami's first score on the ground since the Kent State game (four games). The RedHawks have just five rushing touchdowns this season.
- Chris Givens saw his first action in four weeks, returning from an injury. He made three catches for 58 yards, including one for 40 yards that set up the final score. In his last two contests, he has eight catches for 162 yards receiving.
- Miami had a time of possession advantage of 30:48 to 29:12, reversing a deficit it faced last week. The 24:39 the RedHawks held the ball last week is the only time this season that the opponent has held the ball longer.
