OXFORD, Ohio -- Miami University's football program continues to make great academic strides, according to data released Wednesday (Oct. 27) by the NCAA.
The NCAA's Graduation Success Rate (GSR) statistics indicates that Miami's football student-athletes graduate at a rate of 79 percent, 10 percent better than the national rate of 69 percent and tops among all Mid-American Conference institutions.
The GSR calculations measure graduation in a six-year time frame from initial college enrollment. The methodology was developed by the NCAA as part of its academic reform initiative to more accurately measure the academic success of Division I student-athletes by better accounting for the many different academic paths followed by today's college students.
Not only is Miami football's 79 percent graduation rate atop the scores posted by its MAC counterparts, it is tied for 18th place, nationally, among the nation's 120 Division I football programs in this category.
