Miami Football Game Notes
September 26, 2009
Dix Stadium - Kent, Ohio
Miami vs. Kent State

Miami's game against Kent State was its third straight night game (at Boise State, at Western Michigan and at Kent State). The RedHawks are now 51-42-3 all-time in night contests and have lost their last eight games under the lights, including all three this year. Miami has three night games to end the season as well.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Zac Dysert made his first start under center for Miami. He finished 31-for-53 for 337 yards, while rushing 17 times for 107 yards, all of which were career highs. The 337 passing yards were the most by a RedHawk since Mike Kokal in 2006 vs. Purdue when he threw for 355. The 107 rushing yards were the most for a Miami player since J.R. Taylor ran for 113 vs. Kent State last year (Oct. 25).

Redshirt freshman Mike Johns made his first-career start for the RedHawks on the defensive line.

With Trevor Cook's 28-yard field goal with 4:48 left in the first quarter, Miami scored its first points in the first quarter since Nov. 4, 2008 against Buffalo. It was also the first time the RedHawks held the lead in a game since Nov. 11, 2008, when Miami went up 3-0 against Ball State on a Nathan Parseghian field goal.

Miami finished with a season-high 552 total yards, its most since gaining 577 Sept. 8, 2007 at Minnesota. Despite the loss, the RedHawks more than doubled Kent State's total yardage (250) and doubled them in first downs, as well, 26-13.

Redshirt junior wide receiver Armand Robinson had a career-high 115 receiving yards on a career-high-tying nine catches.

Miami's 215 rushing yards against Kent State were more yards on the ground than its first three games combined (159).

Kent State defeated Miami for a second straight year--the first time that has happened since 1986-88.
