February 14 Doubleheader Features Several Exciting Events

OXFORD, Ohio--The weekend of Feb. 14 will be a busy one for Miami Athletics. In addition to inducting seven individuals into the 40th Hall of Fame Class, men's basketball will be honoring one of its most-memorable teams and women's basketball will be recognizing its basketball alumnae during the women's and men's basketball doubleheader.
HALL OF FAME
ALTHOUGH THE HALL OF FAME BRUNCH IS SOLD OUT, those wishing to celebrate with the inductees may still do so at the Feb. 14 doubleheader. Two of Miami men's basketball's top-three all-time leading scorers--Devin Davis and Wally Szczerbiak--are being inducted as is baseball's all-time winningest pitcher, Ben Burnau. All-America golfer Maarten van den Berg, seven-time Mid-American Conference women's swimming champion Kelly Davis, one of women's basketball's 1,000-point scorers Gaby Downey and football's Bill Gunlock, who was a cog on one of Miami's most-celebrated teams, will be inducted into Miami's Hall of Fame at halftime of the men's game.
SWEET 16 REUNION
Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the RedHawks' run to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16, the men's basketball program is honoring the members of the 1998-99 team prior to its game on Feb. 14. RedHawks from the 1998-99 team Wally Szczerbiak, Damon Frierson, John Estick, Rob Mestas, Anthony Taylor, Jason Stewart, Mike Ensminger, Rich Allendorf, current assistant coach Jason Grunkemeyer, Ben Helmers and Jay Locklier are all planning on attending the reunion.
After claiming the program's 20th Mid-American Conference title, the 1998-99 RedHawks earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament as a No. 10 seed and proceeded to upset No. 7 seed Washington and No. 2 seed Utah before having their cinderella run ended by defending national champion Kentucky in the round of 16. Miami tied a program record for wins in a season, posting a 24-8 mark and finishing the season ranked No. 20 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ALUMNAE DAY/THINK PINK
Miami women's basketball program will be recognizing its alumnae in attendance during its game on Feb. 14. Additionally, the women's basketball program will be sponsoring its THINK PINK weekend to raise awareness for breast cancer research. Miami's women's coaches will be wearing pink and all fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of the event.
GAME INFORMATION
For the price of a men's ticket, fans can attend BOTH games and take part in all of the excitement as Miami Athletics welcomes back and honors several of its most-decorated alumni. Miami's women's basketball team hosts Eastern Michigan at 4 p.m., while the men's team battles Western Michigan at 7 p.m. in a game televised by ESPNU.
