Tennis Drops 4-3 Decision to No. 60 Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Miami won the double point and two singles matches, but 60th-ranked Louisville rallied for a 4-3 victory over the RedHawks Friday afternoon.
The result dropped the RedHawks to 4-6 on the season, while the Cardinals ended a six-match losing streak to improve to 3-6.
Miami jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by winning two of three three double matches. Stephanie Danesis and Megan Martzolf earned an 8-4 win at No. 1, while Riekie Honiball and Britney Larson earned a victory by the same score at No. 3. Anastasia Dracheva and Monica Gorny lost 8-5 at No. 2.
In singles play, Gorny and Dracheva reversed their fortunes. At No. 1, Gorny posted a 6-3, 6-3 win, while Dracheva took a 6-4, 6-1 decision. But Louisville rallied, tying the score at 3-3 with wins at No. 4, No. 6 and No. 3.
The deciding point came down to No. 5 where Martzolf battled Jo-Ann Van Aerde. The players split the first two sets by identical 6-3 scores before Van Aerde eeked out a 6-4 win in the final set.
Miami returns to action next Friday with a night match at Cincinnati.
