Miami-Temple Game Notes in PDF Format 
Fresh from its first victory of the season, Miami University's football team faces one of its biggest challenges on Thursday night (7:30 p.m.) when it travels to Philadelphia to take on 6-2 Temple University.
Coach MICHAEL HAYWOOD'S troops staved off Toledo's late charge and survived with a 31-24 triumph at Yager Stadium.
PREVIEWING TEMPLE: Coach Al Golden's Owls are a perfect 4-0 in Mid-American Conference play and 6-2 overall. They've won six in a row with victories against Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Ball State, Army, Toledo and, last Saturday, a come-from-behind 27-24 win at Navy. Riding a 267-yard, two-touchdown performance by Bernard Pierce, the game-winning touchdown was a 41-yard gallop by Pierce with just 2:41 left in the game. The TU freshman leads the MAC with 1,033 yards. Temple's quarterback is Vaughn Charlton, who's averaging 150 yards per contest. Junior Michael Campbell (18 recs.-238 yards) and sophomore Joe Jones (17-244) are the Owls' top two receivers. DB Jaiquawn Jarrett (50 tackles), LB Elijah Joseph (47), LB Alex Joseph (45) and DB Dominique Harris (43) are Temple's top defensive players. Jarrett has three interceptions and each of the others have at least one INT. Freshman placekicker Brandon McManus is 12-of-17 on field goals and 23-of-25 on PATs.

IT'S UP ... AND IT's GOOD!: Junior placekicker Trevor Cook (Sioux Falls, SD, right) booted a school-record 55-yard field goal vs. Toledo, breaking the 14-year-old Miami mark of 54-yards by Chad Seitz (vs. Michigan, 1995). Cook's 55-yarder is the MAC's longest this year and ties him for the fourth-longest placement in the nation. It is the 11th-longest field goal in MAC history (tie). Career-wise, Cook is 19-of-31 on field goal attempts and 34-of-39 on PATs.
NEW PUNTER: Redshirt freshman Jim Broadway (Roswell, GA) took over punting duties in the Toledo game, placing three of his four punts inside the Rockets' 20-yard line. Broadway's fourth punt was a a fair catch.
