DES MOINES, Iowa-- - Miami University junior Pat Sovacool finished 16th in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Championships on Friday night at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
Sovacool ended in a time of 14:18.55 in a race that saw a tight pack of runners through the first 1,600 meters. Just as a pack of three Colorado runners broke for the lead, Sovacool moved up into the top-seven runners before a hectic shuffling of runners took place over the last half of the race.
Robert Curtis from Villanova eventually outkicked the Buffalo runners for the title as Sovacool was unable to put himself ahead of the main pack of runners.
A junior from Lakewood, Ohio, Sovacool ends the year as a first-team All-MAC performer, the MAC Champion in both the 5,000 meters and 1,500 meters, and an Academic All-MAC and Academic All-Region honoree.
