RedHawks Roll Past Raiders 7-0 in Women's Tennis

HAMILTON, Ohio - With five straight-singles victories and a pair of 8-0 doubles wins, the Miami University women's tennis team swung its way to a 7-0 win over Wright State on Sunday afternoon. The seven straight-set wins were combined with a pair of forfeit victories as the RedHawks improved to 3-5 on the season with their win over the Raiders.
Katrina Lomidze opened the match with a convincing win (6-1, 6-2) over Karina Presti at No. 1 singles. Following at No. 2 singles, Linda Jirouskova downed Christa Ames, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 3 singles, Kelly Douple cruised past Monica Capozziello, 6-1, 6-0, and she was followed by Kristen McPhillips at No. 4 singles, who beat Kelsey Miles, 6-0, 6-1.
In the final singles match that was contested, Victoria Pulido downed Jackie Garrett, 6-1, 6-0, before Miami was awarded the forfeit win at No. 6.
The tandem of Lomidze and Jirouskova won No. 1 doubles 8-0 over Presti and Ames, while Douple and McPhillips downed Capozziello and Miles by an identical score. The third doubles match was a forfeit in the favor of Miami.
