Alumni Game Ends in 5-5 Tie

OXFORD, Ohio--Miami University's baseball team completed a weekend full of activities after hosting the Jamie Mercurio "Skin the Hawk" Golf Classic alongside the men's basketball team on Friday, Sept. 28 and playing the annual Alumni Game on Saturday, Sept. 29.
The golf outing was a tremendous success and the baseball team would like to thank those who participated for making it one to remember.
The Alumni Game had a tremendous turnout and was full of memorable moments.
Highlights:
- The Red and White Teams finished in a 5-5 tie and the Red Team was managed by Don Crain.
- For the White Team, Brad Bachman pitched four innings topping out at 91 mph, while Sam Shorts pitched three innings for the White Team. Bailey Pratt, Brian Weeks and Clark Mace pitched for the Red Team.
- To get the game off to an exciting start, current Miami assistant coach Jeremy Ison dove up the middle to rob Brian Canada of a single and came up throwing to home plate and nailed the runner at home in the First Inning.
- John Sloan hit a RBI ground-rule double in the Fourth Inning
- In the Fifth Inning, Bobby Barnes hit a bases loaded single that barely trickled through the right side of the infield.
- Geoff Orr had a solid day at the plate going 2-3 with two line-drive singles.
- Mike Guagenti had the best all-around fielding day playing second base for the Red Team.
- Sam Scaffide hit a RBI base-hit through the middle in the bottom of the seventh inning, which proved to be the crucial run that ended the game in a tie.
- A swinging bunt by Denny Smith showed his speed lashing out a triple.
- Former Cincinnati Reds pitcher, Joe Nuxhall, was in attendance for the game
