Women's Tennis Falls to Michigan State, 5-2

HAMILTON, Ohio - Miami University's women's tennis team faced the Big Ten for the third time this season Saturday afternoon at Riverside Racquet Club, dropping to 2-3 overall and 0-3 versus the Big Ten with a 5-2 loss to Michigan State.
Despite an impressive victory by juniors Katrina Lomidze and Linda Jirouskova, who downed MSU's first doubles tandem of Christine Bader and Sarah Andrews, the RedHawks fell behind early after suffering 8-1 and 8-0 losses at second and third singles, respectively.
The Spartans clinched the victory by sweeping the first four singles matches in straight sets. Miami's points came at fifth singles, where Victoria Pulido downed the Spartans' Sarah Andrews (6-4, 2-6, 11-9), and with a Remy Swain defeat of Aglaya Kokurina (6-3, 3-6, 10-7 at sixth singles.
Miami returns to action next weekend when it matches up with area rivals Dayton and Wright State.
