TEAM NOTES
- In the 18th meeting between Miami and Akron, the Zips picked up a 24-13 victory and ended the RedHawks' five-game winning streak versus UA. Miami dropped to 1-7 overall and 1-3 in the MAC.
- Miami, playing its second game in six days against an Akron team that had not played since Oct. 7, faded after gaining a 13-12 edge with under four remaining in the third quarter.
- The loss ended a three-game MAC road winning streak for the RedHawks, who had not lost a league game on the road since Oct. 5, 2006 at Northern Illinois.
- With a four-yard touchdown pass from Mike Kokal to Ryne Robinson late in the first quarter, the RedHawks tallied their first touchdown in the opening quarter this season.
- Miami trailed 12-10 at the half and has not led a game at halftime yet this season.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- With a four-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter, senior wide receiver Ryne Robinson surpassed former teammate Martin Nance (2002-05) as Miami's all-time leader in career receiving yardage. He finished the night with nine catches for 136 yards--his 12th career 100-yard game--and has Miami career records of 226 receptions and 3,265 receiving yards.
- Junior quarterback Mike Kokal completed passes to eight different receivers and finished the night 21-of-46 for 263 yards and a touchdown. It marked the first time this season that he completed less than 50 percent of his passes. He was sacked six times on the night.
- Andre Bratton took off on a Miami season-long 27-yard rush off a third-down option play in the first quarter. He had 43 yards on three carries on the night.
- Sophomore linebacker Clayton Mullins recovered two Akron fumbles, resulting in a pair of Miami field goals. He led the RedHawks with 10 tackles.
- Senior Joey Card, a Canton native, led the
- Freshman place kicker Trevor Cook converted field goals of 24 and 34 yards on the night. A missed 50-yard attempt at the end of the first half was his first career miss. He is 6-of-7 on the season.
