TEAM NOTES

- Miami University's football team (1-6; 1-2 MAC) built up a 17-point fourth-quarter lead and held off a late Buffalo charge to collect its first win of the season, 38-31, and end a six-game drought.

- Miami, which was making its 2006 MAC Road debut, won its third straight league game.

- In the ninth meeting between Miami and Buffalo, Miami improved to 9-0 all-time versus the Bulls and won for the fourth straight time at UB Stadium.

- Miami's 14 first-half points and two first-half touchdowns were both season-highs.

- Leading 14-7 late in the second quarter, Miami allowed its second defensive touchdown of the season when an Andre Bratton fumble was recovered and returned for a score.

- Trailing 21-14 early in the fourth quarter, Miami turned three interceptions and a blocked punt into 24 points while pressing out to a 38-21 lead with under five minutes remaining.

- Miami's 38 points were a season high and the most since it scored 38 in its 2005 finale at Ohio.

- Miami has picked off seven UB passes in the last two meetings between the teams.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

- Senior Ryne Robinson hauled in six receptions for 55 yards in the first half, closing within 11 yards of the program's career receiving record. He did not play in the second half after sustaining a second-quarter injury.

- Junior Austin Sykes recorded his first career touchdown on a one-yard run in the second quarter and later added a game-tying five-yard score late in the third quarter.

- Redshirt freshman defensive end Travis Craven recorded a tackle for loss in the second quarter to give him at least one stop for a loss in each of his first five career games.

- With junior running back Brandon Murphy limited, redshirt freshman Andre Bratton saw the majority of Miami's carries, recording his second straight two-touchdown outing. He finished with 54 yards on 15 carries.

- Sophomore middle linebacker Joey Hudson intercepted his third pass of the season off a deflection in the third quarter, setting up a game-tying touchdown. Hudson added his second pick of the game midway through the fourth quarter, to record his second multiple-interception game of the season.

- True freshman Jordan Gafford set up a Miami score when he blocked a Buffalo punt on the final play of the third quarter that was recovered on the UB five-yard line. It was Miami's first block since Derek Rehage blocked a Marshall punt in 2004. Gafford later added his first career interception in the fourth quarter.

- In his first game back since missing two games with a shoulder injury, sophomore tight end Jake O'Connell hauled in a one-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter to spot the RedHawks a 28-21 lead.

- Jerrid Gaines picked off his second pass in as many games early in the fourth quarter, returning it to the UB 20-yard line and setting up a Miami field goal.

- True freshman Trevor Cook converted a 20-yard field goal in the fourth quarter and is 4-of-4 on the year
