Women's Tennis Downs Local Rival Xavier, 4-3

HAMILTON, Ohio--Miami University's women's tennis team took another step forward Saturday evening at Riverside Racquet Club, battling past local rival Xavier University, 4-3, and improving to 4-2.
The RedHawks seized the early advantage by taking two of three double matches for what would prove to the be the decisive point. After an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles by Nancy Wiegand and Victoria Pulido, Miami clinched the point with an 8-6 win by Remy Swain and Leda Pesatova at No. 2 doubles.
Miami locked up the win with straight-set wins by Linda Jirouskova, Pulido and Swain and No.2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. The lone singles match not decided in straight sets came at No. 3 singles, where Kelly Douple fell to XU's Stephanie Bauer, 1-6, 7-5, 10-7.
