Suzy Wolford Earns Volleyball Academic All-MAC Accolades

OXFORD, Ohio -- One of 16 volleyball student-athletes to be honored, Miami University's Suzy Wolford (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) was named to the Mid-American Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team as voted by the league's faculty athletics representatives, the conference office announced Wednesday evening.
Wolford owns a 3.62 grade-point average and majors in accountancy, while minoring in criminology. This season, Wolford broke Miami's single-season dig mark with 469 digs and, with two matches remaining, could become the first Miami player to ever record 500 digs in a season. Wolford also shattered Miami's career and single-season digs per game records with a season average of 4.51, which ranks eighth among MAC leaders, and a career average of 3.23. With 1,229 career digs, Wolford ranks third on Miami's career dig list. Earlier this season, she became the ninth player to surpass 1,000 career digs. This season, she had a career-high 29 digs at Ball State on Sept. 27 and has nine 20-plus dig performances this season and 15 for her career. Wolford has started 29 matches at libero this season and has made 130 career starts, including 82 starts at libero. She was named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Oct. 3, 2005 and has been on the Dean's List at Miami every semester.
Miami (17-12; 9-7 MAC) rounds out its season at the MAC/Atlantic 10 Challenge, which is being held at the University of Dayton. The RedHawks face Xavier on Friday, Nov. 25 at 5 p.m. and clash with Dayton on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 4 p.m.
