Team Notes

- The loss was Miami's first in the Mid-American Conference since the 2002 season finale versus UCF, ending a nine-game league winning streak. Miami failed to start 2-0 in the MAC for the first time since 1998.

- Miami finished the game with only 144 yards passing, ending a string of 25 consecutive games with at least 200 yards passing.

- The RedHawks turned the ball over five times tonight, adding to their total of 19 on the season. Last season the Red and White committed only 19 turnovers in the entire 14-game season.

- Miami's 100 yards rushing in the first half were the most in a half this season.

- Marshall's four first-half scoring drives all began on Miami's half of the field, as the Thundering Herd tallied 20 points by covering a total of 107 yards on the four drives.

Individual Notes

- Miami's first touchdown was set up by a 50-yard run by Mike Smith, which was Miami's longest rush of the season by 29 yards. He capped the drive with a four-yard touchdown rush, his fourth of the season.

- With his rushing touchdown, Mike Smith found the endzone for the 16th time in the past 18 games and climbed into a sixth-place tie on Miami's career charts for rushing TDs (24).

- Sixth-year senior wide receiver Korey Kirkpatrick capped off a 14-point, first-quarter swing for the RedHawks with a one-yard touchdown reception. It was his first TD since a 2002 contest at Akron.

- With a seven-yard return on Miami's first punt return of the day, sophomore Ryne Robinson became the Mid-American Conference's career leader in punt-return yardage. He has 1,006 yards for his career.

- Senior wide receiver Michael Larkin led Miami with 79 yards receiving, including a key 45-yard reception in the fourth quarter. He now has a reception in 42 straight games.

- Making his first career start, sophomore free safety Joey Card recorded his first career interception off a tipped pass in the fourth quarter.

- Miami's leading receiver, junior Martin Nance, made one reception in the first quarter and was injured on the play. He did not return on the night.
