BRADENTON, Fla. - Northwestern University took advantage of seven Miami errors and ran off to a 14-6 win over RedHawks at Manatee Community College Friday night.
With Miami down 2-1 heading to the top of the fifth inning, Northwestern University pu the game out of reach, racking up nine runs on six hits as Miami committed three errors. From there the RedHawks were able to generate five runs be it wouldn't be enough as the Wildcats held on to win by eight. Catcher Jon Franzese and designated hitter Sam Sellery did deliver big hits for Miami, each going deep.
In relief for starter Graham Taylor, who allowed six earned runs in 4.1 innings, right hander Matt Raguse closed the door on the Wildcats' offense giving up just one run and five hits the remainder of the way. Raguse struck out six and walked just one.
The RedHawks close out their trip to Florida tomorrow morning versus the University of Massachusetts at 9 a.m.
